What is Hair transplantation?

Transferring individual hair follicles from a part of the body called the ‘donor site’ to bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site1. It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness

What is Male pattern baldness?

Male – pattern hair loss , also known as androgenic alopecia and male pattern baldness (MPB), is hair loss that occurs due to an underlying susceptibility of hair follicles to androgenic miniaturization. It is the most common cause of hair loss and will affect up to 70% of men and 40% of women at some point in their lifetimes. Men typically present with hairline recession at the temples and vertex balding, while women normally thin diffusely over the top of their scalps. Both genetic and environmental factors play a role, and many analyses remain unknown.

How many Hairs / Follicular units will I require?

This depends on 3 factors i.e.

  • Present baldness.
  • Hairline desired or the area where hair implantation is desired is subjective fact.
  • Density desired – Density can be divided into 3 Types

– Fuller Density (45 grafts per sq cm)

– Camouflage Density (25 grafts per sq cm)

– Optimised Density (35 to 30 grafts per sq cm)

What is Follicular Hair unit?

Follicular hair unit is a strand of hair with its root. Fact is our hair grows in a group of 1 -4 strands of hair and they are called grafts. However during the hair replacement procedure w e uproot hair roots one by one.

What are the different ways of doing Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplant is done in 2 basic ways , which are:

1) Strip technique or FUT:

Surgical technique involves harvesting a strip of skin from your Backside of head.

The hair are then separated and implanted on the bald area.

  • This involves cutting your scalp skin, then stitching it.
  • This technique is old, painful and gives a long linear scar.

2) FUE Technique (Follicular Unit Extraction Method)

FUE is also known as follicular transfer (FT), is one of two primary methods of obtaining follicular units, naturally occurring groups of one to four hairs, forhair transplantation

What are the advantages of BIO-INTEGRATED FUE technique?

Do I need to take any rest?

Rest is usually not required after procedure, you resume to your duties immediately from the next day But on humanity grounds we suggest a day off from work after treatment.

Do I need to wear a cap?

It is not mandatory to wear a cap but avoiding direct sunlight for initial 12 days is good for results. Hence you can go for Caps of your choice.

Do I need to shave my head?

We need to trim the donor area and the recipient area to make the procedure easy and result oriented. So ideally, yes we need to trim your hair.

Do I need to take any medicines?

You will need to take post-procedure medicines for 5 daysonly. Which includes Anti Biotics, Pain Killer and some more basic pillsand it will help in your quick relief and recovery.

Why is Anaesthesia used during procedure ?

Anaesthesia is used keeping in mind to decrease the pain during the procedure. It is numbing element and helps in minimizing the pain.

What about my existing hair? Will they fall off?

Your existing hair is always under the effects of DHT, therefore they are prone to fall off if they are not taken care off. So, it is advised that you start medications for your existing hair so that they are preserved and don’t fall.
However the replaced hair does not need any medications or therapy as the implanted is naturally hair fall resistant and therefore permanent.

Will I look odd after doing the hair transplant?

No. But small black colour blood clots are visible for first 10-15 days after the procedureat the Implanted area. You can even expect swelling on your forehead on the 3 day after the procedure. Swelling is painless resistant to medication & disappe ars on its own in next 3 -4 days. S o you can wear a cap if you are not feeling comfortable or to cover the spots and swelling.

How many sessions of hair transplant can be performed on me?

In a single session which may last over 2 days, about 3000 -3500 grafts can be transp lanted, depending upon your donor -area. More than 3500 grafts can be transplanted in another session, after 30 days.

When can I have head bath, when can I oil my head, or from when can I start exercising, till what time sh ould I take precautions ?

That depends upon your situation of hairs. However oiling, heavy exercises, excessive sweating, swimming and gym can be only done after 4 weeks.

What happens to my Donor area?

The donor area looks still the same after extraction, no baldness appears over there though the hair that has been extracted is been transplanted to the bald area. There will be no change in the look of Donor area.
